The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.
— Henry Miller

My work is inspired by the science fiction genre and how it is derived from the natural world.  The more we explore and examine every inch of our planet, the more alien it begins to feel.  Mutation, chemical warfare in plants and insects, life at a microscopic level, deep sea creatures, organisms that thrive in hostile environments -- these are topics that I investigate by offering the viewer fantastical abstracted landscapes based on semi-recognizable objects and images to give homage to the transcendental moments in life when the ordinary suddenly becomes something more.

My hope is that my work will cultivate a desire in others to explore and discover the mysteries of the world around us, beginning with our own backyards.
